Consumer dApp ecosystems to onboard the subsequent million users with Flow and SEDA
Episode #3 of the SEDA-led mini-series aired yesterday, Thursday, March 8th. It featured Anuke Ganegoda, Head of Business Development at Flow Blockchain, and SEDA CTO Jasper De Gooijer. The podcast centered around how Flow is at the forefront of Web3 Adoption, ushering in the biggest brands in Web2. It also included notes on how SEDA’s modular data layer is built to connect off-chain brand IP and data to Web3. Podcast highlights included Anuke speaking to composable ecosystems being built on big brand web3 consumer apps as the next gateway for mass adoption and Jasper pointing to SEDA’s involvement in allowing ‘tic-for-tic’ IP, gaming, and sports data to flow into blockchains.
Consumer Apps To Usher In Millions
During the panel discussion on Web3 mainstream adoption, Anuke noted that only DeFi and stablecoins have achieved product market fit. Nonetheless, he is optimistic that consumer apps, particularly in gaming, social media, and loyalty programs, can potentially attract millions more users to Web3. Anuke also explored how consumer apps could serve as a ‘Trojan Horse,’ seamlessly integrating Web3’s financial layer into familiar dApp experiences, slowly growing user understanding. Jasper from SEDA echoed the power of consumer apps and how SEDA is building to connect off-chain data to app-specific environments such as those built on Flow.
Composability & Modularity, Critical Factors To dApp Development
As the discussion grew, Anuke & Jasper shared their excitement for composability and modularity, which are critical features required to boost consumer app experiences. SEDA’s horizontally scalable modular design and permissionless data feed programming increase the brevity of applications that can be built to support consumer apps. Flow sees the first composable ecosystems emerging on top of dApps, such as the NBA top shot with Fast Break. This fantasy basketball game utilizes a consumer NBA top shot collection to connect to live NBA action for fantasy league management.
Chain-Abstracted Experiences Set To Boost Conversions
When asked how each speaker sees the conversion of Web2 consumers to Web3 consumers, the panel unanimously highlighted the need for intuitive and familiar application experiences. Jasper mentioned that SEDA, recently named in the CAKE framework builders group, is developing infrastructure that powers chain abstraction, allowing for seamless and efficient user interfaces. Anuke also spoke to the application layer, sharing his belief that the more composable ecosystems built on top of great consumer dApps, the more we need to streamline the experience to be less ‘Web3’. He further highlighted an ongoing upgrade linking the Flow ecosystem with the EVM network, facilitating improved ecosystem experiences.
