WeaveVM has integrated SEDA to power storage price oracles & large data set accessibility.

WeaveVM is a hyperscalable EVM L1 network focused on low-cost computation with permanent onchain data storage and data availability. Currently, WeaveVM has more than $730 million in data value archived onchain. This figure is set to increase with the network’s recent integration of SEDA, enabling day-one access and transport of any data type onchain. Using SEDA’s programmable tooling, WeaveVM is building custom oracle programs that will power physical storage price feed oracles and bring large, high-frequency data sets onchain for limitless developer access.

WeaveVM’s Physical Storage Price Oracles

WeaveVM is designed with a dedicated decentralized data storage layer that powers extensive data storage at a fraction of the cost of competing data availability (DA) layers. The cost of storing data on competing DAs ranges from 0.16c per 1MB to >$4. Whereas storing data on WeaveVM averages at 0.3c per 1MB. By leveraging SEDA as a dedicated data transport layer, WeaveVM can deploy custom oracle programs to source real-time physical hard drive price data. This price data for hard drives will allow WeaveVM to offer resilient pricing for their upcoming hot cache storage layer.

Limitless High-Frequency Data Access

Positioned as the next-generation EVM storage layer, WeaveVM powers developers with the ability to deploy data-heavy applications — everything from content-rich dApps with fully onchain video, to DeSci data sets and LLM training data. The second use case for SEDA on WeaveVM is transporting large, high-frequency data sets onchain to be readily accessible for smart contracts. This mitigates app devs on WeaveVM needing to store large data sets, improving application performance. On SEDA, app devs or WeaveVM can simply deploy oracle programs that define what data they want, where it should be sourced, and how data sets must be returned. SEDA then acts as the medium to access any data required and configure results to suit any use case. WeaveVM then stores this data on their L1 where smart contracts can seamlessly access data required for their function.

SEDA’s Benefits To WeaveVM’s Ecosystem

“With SEDA, WeaveVM developers can bring data feeds of any size onchain and call that data from inside smart contracts. SEDA acts as both a developer-facing tool and a core part of WeaveVM’s hot cache storage pricing model. The team has been highly flexible and fantastic to work with on implementing these integrations.” — Benjamin Brandall, WeaveVM

In contrast to traditional oracle models, SEDA’s programmable oracle infrastructure leverages an intent-centric design that enables networks to build custom oracle feeds, known as oracle programs, for their specific use case. Where traditional oracles dictate what data is available and from where, SEDA’s solver network and intent-centric design allow any network to issue custom data requests with a single integration. Solvers on the SEDA monitor a single prover contract that can be deployed to any network and relay requests and results between SEDA and data requesters. When a new data request (DR) reaches the SEDA network, an independent Overlay Network fetches an Oracle Program ID associated with the DR, to execute it according to predefined instructions.
