SEDA had a bustling and fruitful June, with significant announcements on the horizon. Let’s take a look at our major milestones from this month.

SEDA Engineering

The month of June 2023 marked a significant milestone for the Engineering team as it transitioned from an exploration phase filled with technical discussions to an active building phase. The primary objective during this period was to establish the fundamental elements of the SEDA protocol by setting up core components and implementing essential functionalities.

Let’s dive into the highlights of our progress:

1. Deployment of our Internal SEDA Testing Network

We scaffolded and deployed our internal development network. Our focus was on configuration, infrastructure, and documentation. The network supports the use of WASM smart contracts for the core logic of the SEDA protocol.

2. Implementation of Basic Data Request Functionality

Our main objective was to set up and wire the fundamental building blocks for handling simple data requests. This involved fetching data from external sources and posting it onto on-chain contracts. It required seamless interaction of several components, such as the SEDA chain itself, the deployed smart contracts, and the overlay network that executes data requests. We’ll be addressing security and incentives in the later stages of the development.

3. Deployment of a Block Explorer and Implementation of an Indexer

To facilitate development, we deployed an existing open-source block explorer as an internal tool. This tool aids our team in monitoring and analyzing the blockchain’s blocks and transactions. Additionally, we initiated work on an indexer, enabling us to retrieve essential chain data. This indexer will power our own explorer, providing chain data about not only blocks and transactions, but also data requests.

We announced conference participation & sponsorships

We’re excited to announce the SEDA team will be attending the following blockchain conferences:

  • AwesomeWasm (July 12th-13th, Berlin)
  • EthCC (July 17th-20th, Paris)
  • Blockchain Oracle Summit (July 21th-22th, Paris)

If you’re around for one of the above events, make sure to join us for SEDA CTO Jasper de Gooijer’s (EthCC), and SEDA Head of Research Mario Cao’s (Blockchain Oracle Summit) talks, and please don’t hesitate to reach out directly if you’d like to connect in person.

We opened up our validator waitlist

We are proud to share that we have opened up our waitlist for validators interested in becoming validators to the SEDA Network. If you haven’t already signed up, you can do so here: https://tally.so/r/wLzqMp

We hosted our second SEDA fireside chat

This marked the second episode of a regular series of conversations where SEDA team members will talk about the state of the crypto industry. The interactive setting allowed for an open dialogue, fostering connections while delving into key topics. This time we covered why “oracleless DeFi” doesn’t exist, data as a driver of utility in blockchain ecosystems, the future of crypto communities, and much more.

We held our monthly SEDA community calls

Our monthly SEDA community calls provide a platform for SEDA users and our team to connect, share insights, and discuss opportunities for collaboration. Be sure to tune into the next one for some exclusive alpha, on the SEDA Discord!

The SEDA Team continues to be thrilled about this new building phase, allowing us to immerse ourselves in coding and actively build the SEDA protocol. We will continue to share more updates and progress with you in the near future. Stay tuned for exciting developments ahead!

PS: We look forward to meeting some of you in person in Berlin or Paris in July!
