January was a month of excitement and progress for the SEDA community! With the unveiling of SEDA, updated documentation, and a revamped website, plus a glimpse into the future of oracles, there’s never been a better time to be a part of the SEDA movement. Let’s dive into all the exciting developments of the past month!

SEDA Unveiled: A New Era in Trustless Data Layer for Web3

January was an extra special month for our team because, after 14 months of development, we launched SEDA, a new standard for data transmission across web3!

At SEDA, our mission is to build a fully trustless web3. We envision a future where no single entity holds control over the flow of data. A future where the new foundations of the internet remain permissionless, transparent, and open to all.

SEDA, a combination of the words “secure” and “data,” is a trustless data layer that acts as a bridge between any blockchain and the real world. This makes it possible for all integrated parties to carry out data requests, connect to any data source, and query its data in a fully permissionless way.

Updates Galore: Our New Website, Litepaper & Primer

Visit our new website at seda.xyz.

In addition to our new name, this month we also unveiled our brand-new website, content hub, and social channels. A few quick notes:

  • Our Twitter handle is now @sedaprotocol. Give us a follow!
  • We have launched a fully redesigned Discord server with more resources and support channels, giving more power to the community. If you haven’t joined it yet, make sure to do so today!

We’ve also unleashed a plethora of fresh content to help you navigate the SEDA Network. From the SEDA Primer, a quick 10-minute intro to all things SEDA, to the in-depth SEDA Litepaper, which covers the cutting-edge features and innovations of the SEDA Protocol, we’ve got you covered.

And that’s not all — this month we also debuted a new documentation hub packed with useful information, FAQs, and more. So buckle up and get ready to dive into the world of SEDA!

Our Predictions for the State of Oracles in 2023

Oracles, the unsung heroes of the blockchain world, have played an increasingly important role in ensuring our data flows from one place to another securely and in a trustless manner. But what does the future hold for these powerful tools?

Check out our five predictions for the state of oracles in 2023.

SEDA Engineering: January Update

Node housekeeping

As our code is starting to grow significantly, we performed a series of refactors and improvements to maintain clean code best practices. It included simplifying our node configuration and improving the usability of our command line interface (CLI).

Node infrastructure

We continued expanding the functionalities of the node infrastructure:

  • Added support for p2p message broadcasting using the libp2p library.
  • Implemented an event queue to enable the interaction between node host functions (e.g., p2p communication) and WASM VM environments (e.g., the execution of a data request).

Main-chain contracts

We implemented the contracts for the future SEDA token and started with the staking contracts design and implementation.

Research and protocol specifications

We had several technical discussions regarding bridging incentivization. We also conducted research and protocol specifications regarding cryptographic primitives, key management, and block proposal conditions.

If you’ve got any questions or concerns, please reach out to us on the SEDA Discord. We’ll see you next month!
