SEDA’s code base will undergo a robust audit by professional auditing firm Sherlock, offering $90,000 USD in bug bounties.

In the final steps before the SEDA upgrade to mainnet v1.0, the SEDA code audit will begin on February 17th, led by Sherlock. Sherlock completes tier 1 audits by leveraging an audit competition structure that ensures hundreds of professional researchers review SEDA’s code base. Upon completion of the audit, SEDA will review and address any identified vulnerabilities before announcing the long-awaited mainnet v1.0 upgrade date.

What Is An Audit Contest?

Sherlock’s audit contests work by incentivizing a global community of experts to rigorously review code. SEDA’s code base is reviewed by over 300 professional researchers who evaluate each section to earn a share of $90,000 USD in bug bounty rewards. Researchers independently review the code base and present their findings. The bounty amounts paid out to researchers depend on the severity and complexity associated with their reported vulnerabilities.

How Do Audit Contests Compare To Traditional Audit Models?

Multiple reviews and data comparison validates the effectiveness of Sherlock’s approach. In comparative studies, their crowdsourced method detected an average of 3x more issues than traditional audits, uncovering critical vulnerabilities that individual reviewers may miss. Case studies, including a review of Tokemak’s code, demonstrated Sherlock’s ability to identify more issues in nearly half the time of conventional audits. By putting project codebases into the hands of hundreds of different researchers, the chance of picking up vulnerabilities is increased.

SEDA’s Commitment To Best Security Practices

By selecting Sherlock, SEDA underscores its commitment to best security practices and ensuring thorough code review. Our mainnet launch will be backed by a rigorous, community-driven audit methodology designed to align our infrastructure with the highest standards of blockchain security.

All audit reports will be made publicly viewable on the SEDA Github site. Be sure to join the SEDA Discord to keep up to date with the latest developments, including the first announcements of the SEDA v1.0 upgrade.
