With access to any data onchain, there are no limits to what can be built on SEDA.
The Chain Abstraction Hackathon, hosted by Encode Club, was the first public showcase of SEDA’s versatility. Unlike traditional Oracle models, SEDA doesn’t restrict builders to specific data types, allowing day-one access to any data type. Developers build bespoke Oracle Programs on the SEDA Network that power their unique novel use cases, available for any app type. In the Proof of Program Series, we will explore some limitless developments in SEDA.
Proof of program article #2 spotlights “Emergency,” a decentralized real-time communication tool for natural disasters.

What is Emergency?
Emergency is a real-time communication tool built to support disaster relief efforts onchain. Built by a team based in Southeast Asia, Emergency aims to address concerns around inaccurate and inaccessible data during emergencies and lack of access to real-time location data used for emergency life-saving support.
The platform integrates a map-based interface for pinning locations, instant messaging, and uploading video footage stored onchain and accessible globally. Additional features include a donation tool powered by onchain weather feeds to provide decentralized updates on disaster zones. While still in its early stages of development, emergency represents an innovative approach to leveraging decentralized data and onchain communication to mitigate the lack of access to necessary information in times of disaster.
How is SEDA utilized?
The Emergency team built an Oracle Program on SEDA to provide real-time decentralized data updates on:
- Locations
- Weather conditions
- Disaster-related news updates
SEDA is used to ensure that the information leading to a donation is completely accurate and up to date before a user makes a donation. During the donation process, user input triggers the Oracle Program to query a range of news and weather channels and return a true or false message on the accuracy of the latest data.
SEDA Powers Limitless Development
Oracle Programs like those used in Emergency point to the flexibility of the SEDA network. Applications onchain need data access to function. Giving builders the freedom to select what data, from where, and how it is returned is the foundation of limitless development that will usher in unforeseen use cases onchain.
